G A M I N G  H I S T O R Y

I played the old Pong back in the 70's.  My dad brought home our first computer in 1982, when I was ten years old.  It was a Vic-20.  I remember putting the data tape into the stereo, strictly against the warnings on the tape and from my dad, just because I was curious about what it would sound like.  I wrote my first game at age 11, a simple little text based adventure game.  About that time my family moved from our small town of 1500 people to Phoenix, Arizona.  By twelve I was playing D&D, something I had never heard of in the small town I left.  At thirteen I bought my first game: Aerotech, published by FASA.  My fascination with planes helped the decision making process.  Soon after I picked up Battletech and Citytech.  I played that genre for many years.  I was running Battletech at local conventions in 88 and 89.  During the course of this time I helped a friend write a Role Playing Game based on the movie Dune.  We moved from Phoenix to downstate IL in the summer of 89.  During my senior year I met a few friends who also liked Battletech and played often.  When I went to college in the fall of 1990 I got into other stuff besides just Battletech.  I started playing Robotech and Rifts.  I got back in RPGs such as D&D and Star Wars when I met some people in college who played.  I also wrote about 2 or 3 wargames.  Most were very simple.  I met Glenn during a Battletech Campaign a mutual friend of ours was running.  While that campaign eventually ended, Glenn and I remained good friends.  We still played Battletech and the Star Wars RPG until I finally moved out to California.  After I was out there about 6 months, Glenn asked me if I wanted to help him write a wargame.  I agreed and after a couple months it was obvious we needed to get together to speed up the work.  So, a couple months later, I moved back to Chicago.  We've been working on the game ever since.
